Jonathan Dillon's Concrete Perception is a visual and textual dérive, which purposefully detours through the problems of formalism in order to develop a specifically architectural understanding of the art of American sculptor Gordon Matta-Clark. Concrete Perception draws upon history and theory but relies upon observation-upon the idea of architecture as a visual, plastic art-to identify Matta-Clark's drawings and building cuts as an example of architecture's critical self-reflection in which form and space are the radical protagonists.
